On Tuesday, March 2nd, MBYC celebrated the addition of our new members with a turn-out of 107 club members for a whale of a party at the Island Country Club.  It was a fantastic night of fun with great friends – both old and new!
Following dinner our Commodore, Bill Horton, introduced our 2009–2010 new members:  Ferris & Leslie Arnold, Joe & Audrey Calzone, Jack & Rachel DeHannas, Larry & Rhona Kalkstein, Jim & Litha Lane, Sam & Tammy Miloro and Dale & Beverly Nicholas.  We extend a sincere welcome to all of our new members.
Vicki Herrin and JoAnne Herndon, our social committee co-chairs, planned and organized the evening that began with cocktails at 6 pm followed by a great dinner at 7 pm.  The Island Country Club, which is always a great venue for a party, did a superb job from the cocktail service right through dinner and dessert.
After all of the planning and work involved in a party of this size, it was unfortunate that, due to a death in their family, Vicki and Joe could not attend.  However, the event was capably managed by Bob and JoAnne Herndon with the help of Gerry and Linda Odenbach.  While JoAnne and Linda handled table assignments, Bob and Gerry hawked drink tickets throughout the night.
Our dinner and dancing music was provided by Jim Long, who played tunes for young and old alike and covered dances from the slow and romantic to fast and foot-stomping.  From the crowd on the dance floor it appeared everyone enjoyed the music.
Again we welcome our new members and thank all of the MBYC members for their support of this great event.  Thanks also to our Social Committee Co-Chairs, Vicki and JoAnne, for all of their work on behalf of MBYC.
