"The Evasive Golden Goose"
The annual " Wild Goose Chase " was held on Saturday , March 3rd . Five boats and crew signed up for the event. At around 9:00 A.M. five boats proceeded to the starting line to receive their clues, but unfortunately the Barters' boat " Knot Home II " developed engine problems and had to retire. The remaining 4 boats received their clue packets at 9:30 A.M. and commenced the hunt.
This year a new and exotic entered the field, the "Golden Goose". This goose would draw 20 points and all other "commoners" 10 points. THE RACE WAS ON !!
The Rapps' and crew on the "Margin" arrived at the Esplanade at precisely 11:30 A.M. All three remaining boats by 11:50. All clue packets collected and all retired to C J's for lunch and awards. In all, 41 people enjoyed the luncheon. After a fine lunch awards for the contest were presented.Brent & Susan Cook with crew were again really "COOKIN" and received 1 st prize with 8 out of 9 geese found. Second place went to Dick & Nancy Gady and crew aboard "Illini Girl" with 5 out of 9 geese. Third went to Commodore Al & Ginny Rapp and crew aboard "Margin"- 4 of 9 geese. Bringing up
the rear thus winning the "boozee" prize [ 2 oz bottle of rum ] Larry Pravato and crew aboard "Abbondanza". Congrads to all !
In other news the Golden Goose is proud to report not a single boat was able to locate him and challenges all to a similar quest next year.
See you at the bait shop,
Jim Mueller
P.S.Take note:
There was a protest by Commodore Al that all other boats be disqualified because they were not docked by 11:30. There being a very popular and almost unanimous uprising, he retracted his protest and thus a major rebellion was everted.
