I previously lived in suburban Chicago for my entire working career. I moved to Marco Island full time with my wife Valerie in 2017. I have over 45 years of real estate and business experience focusing primarily on the development and management of large hi-rise residential buildings in the Chicago area. From 1973 to 2007 I was with The Habitat Company.When I left the firm in 2007 we managed over 32,000 units with a combined value of over $5 billion dollars and had operations in six states with over 1,200 employees. In addition to my direct real estate experience I have been involved as principal in a real estate brokerage firm, a large furnished corporate apartments firm, a captive insurance company, a telecommunications company and a variety of other retail businesses including restaurants and grocery stores. After retiring from the real estate business, I became the vice-president and chief financial officer of a family owned publishing business, Crystal Productions Company, that specialized in education resources for schools and teachers. I also became Executive Director of the Mulford Square Preservation Corporation a 501c(3) not for profit housing corporation dedicated to preserving affordable housing. I continue today as a Trustee and member of the Executive Committee on the Service Employees Local 1 Health, Welfare and Pension Fund Funds in Chicago, Illinois. I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Pre-Law from Illinois Wesleyan University and was formerly a Licensed Real Estate Salesman in Illinois. I am also an avid sailor and boater and have competed in over 60 Chicago and Port Huron to Mackinac Island Yacht Races and numerous other races on the Great Lakes, in California and on San Francisco Bay. I currently have a powerboat and cruises the waters of southwest Florida. I was formerly a member of Valley Lo Sports Club, the East Bank Club, Sunset Ridge Country Club, Mission Hills Country Club and the Chicago Yacht Club.
