The “first of the season” MBYC cruise to Legacy Harbor Marina started out from Marco on October 15th with Cookin’. Che Jac, Sea Ya’ll, Divergent and Sweet Lips. Due to mechanical problems, Sweet Lips had to turn around for repairs but happily arrived a few hours late.
The five boats were joined by the Mulligans and Browns who drove up to Legacy where we all enjoyed “Docktails” our first night and welcomed Debbie Schroeder who drove up and joined us on Friday night. On Saturday the 14 of us had a wonderful dinner in a private upstairs dining room at the Verand followed by participating in Zombiecon after dinner. Fortunately, all of us were safely back to our boats before the shooting that night that killed one and injured for others.
On Sunday Morning we bid goodbye to the Landwaards who headed home and Sunday evening the remaining dozen of us dined at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theater and enjoyed a wonderful performance of The Million Dollar Quartet.
Monday saw our group thin out a little more with the departure of Schroeders who boated back to Marco, the Mulligans who drove down to Pink Shell for the second half of our cruise, along with the Browns who went back to Marco to pick up their boat for the Pink Shell portion of our cruise. Monday afternoon the Cooks, Coffins and Skillerns took a van to see the movie Bridge of Spies, had dinner at Applebee’s and, after waiting for non-existent cabs, took Uber back to port.
Tuesday, October 20th saw the cruise resume for Part Two at Pink Shell Marina. Cookin’, Che Jac, and Sea Ya’ll traveled from Legacy and were joined by Tennesea Waltz that arrived the prior day and Therapy III, Nauti Buoy, My Turn and Sachmo. Another Docktail Party was held that evening where the 16 boaters were joined by the Mulligans and also the Costas who drove up for the evening after experiencing mechanical boat issues earlier in the day.
Unfortunately, on our day of arrival at Pink Shell, weather conditions were not ideal and docking was a challenge so the Brinkoetters and Geschries opted to stay in their cozy slips on Marco but we look forward to having them join us in January.
During our 4 days at Pink Shell we did what we normally do: play Canasta, Maj Jongg, Mexican Train, and eat. The group enjoyed great dinners at Fresh Catch and Pastabilities and had a dining experience at Island Views that we won’t likely repeat.
On Thursday, the 22nd Sea Ya’ll and Che Jac returned to Marco in calm seas and on Friday the 23rd TenneSea Waltz and My Turn returned to Marco and on Saturday the 24th the remaining four boats headed back home as well.
During the 9-day cruise we had another great with wonderful friends.
