Marco Bay Yacht Club

Dear Prospective Member,

Thank you for your interest in MARCO BAY YACHT CLUB! Please read the enclosed information carefully and submit your completed application along with a check for $500 to cover the initiation fee ($300) and this year’s annual dues ($200).

If you are joining between July 1st and November 30th, the annual fee is reduced by 50%. Your check will NOT be cashed until the Board meets and approves your membership. The Board meets on the second Tuesday of every month. If your application is not submitted 10 days before our next board meeting, it might get voted on the following month. This should not limit your participation, as any non-member is eligible to participate in two club events without being a member. Try it before you buy it.

How to get started with your application:

  1. Fill out the on-line form here and click the "Submit" button at the end of the form.
  2. After your application is submitted, give your check to your sponsor, who will forward it to the MBYC Board.

Requirements:

  • Own a watercraft berthed on Marco Island, Isles of Capri, Goodland, and the areas east to include the community of Port of the Islands, or as far north on Route 951 to include Fiddlers Creek and their boundaries. The watercraft must have an engine as its primary source of power and a current U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Courtesy Marine Examination Decal from a safety inspection.
  • Be 21 years of age or older and have NASBLA certification if born in 1988 or later.

Marco Bay Yacht Club Membership Application

This application must be complete to be considered by the Membership Committee and the Board of Directors.

I wish to apply for membership in the Marco Bay Yacht Club. I understand that there is a one-time initiation fee of $300 plus annual dues of $200. Dues are for the calendar year, but are reduced to 50% for inductions between July 1st and November 30th.

I have read and understand the requirements in the section above and will fulfill them prior to induction into Marco Bay Yacht Club.

Applicant Vessel Details

Safety is our first and foremost priority. We require:

  1. A safety inspection of your vessel (can be uploaded in this application).
  2. A copy of a NASBLA safe boating certificate if you were born in 1988 or later.

Applicant's Sponsors

If you do not have an existing MBYC member to sponsor you, contact the membership chairperson and sponsors will be assigned to you.

SPONSORSHIP REQUIREMENT

According to Club by-laws, this application cannot be voted on without two members of Marco Bay Yacht Club, as your sponsors. Sponsors must be:

  1. members for 1 year, and
  2. two different members (not husband & wife)

By sponsoring this applicant you are agreeing to the sponsor’s obligation set forth below.

SPONSOR OBLIGATIONS:

By sponsoring applicants for membership, you are attesting to the fact that you know the applicant(s) to  be of good character, and believe they will become  active members in the Club. Sponsors are responsible for ensuring this application is complete (including inspection, dues, bio and photo, answering applicant questions).

You are also assuming the obligation to introduce them to our members and assist them in becoming assimilated into Club functions.

Attestation of Insurance

By becoming or remaining a member of Marco Bay Yacht Club (“MBYC”), I attest that I will maintain and carry personal liability insurance for my vessel in amounts sufficient to cover claims arising from my vessel’s operation, use, or presence during MBYC activities.

Disclaimer of Ownership

I acknowledge and agree that MBYC does not own or control any land-based facilities or watercraft used by members. MBYC provides only club-sponsored events and activities; it does not provide, maintain, or warrant the safety, seaworthiness, or condition of any vessel or third‑party facility.

Release, Waiver, and Indemnification

I hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue MBYC, its officers, directors, members, volunteers, agents, and representatives from any and all liability, claims, demands, causes of action, losses, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to personal injury, death, property loss, or other incidents that may occur in connection with MBYC-sponsored events. I further agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless MBYC and its affiliates from and against any third‑party claims, liabilities, losses, or costs resulting from my acts or omissions, my vessel, or my guests.
