Isabelle de Borchgave’s “Fashioning Art From Paper” famous exhibit was our February event at Artis Naples. She brought back to life dresses and costumes made of treated and painted paper, depicted in 17th century art.. For instance, her creations are nearly identical to the original ceremonial costumes of the Medici’s, the dancers of the Ballet Russes and others. The colors therein are magnetically real. One would personally have to see these collections to fully appreciate their beauty, artistry and extreme effort to create these costumes — even the pearl buttons on the bodices and necklaces were of paper.

I can say with certainty that all of us participants were truly awed. Not to forget our wonderful docent Roberta, who brought the history of the collection to life.

At Brio’s a delicious lunch was enjoyed in their private dining area.
