On Monday, March 13, Larry and Rhona Kalkstein hosted a raft up in Smokehouse Bay. The weather held up nicely and eight boats showed up, making this a world-record raft up for Marco Bay Yacht Club! Members in attendance included Bob Boland and Lyn Bedell, Mike and Cindy Brown, Brent and Susan Cook (who traveled on the Brown boat), Bobby and Sue Costa (who brought a cast of thousands with them, along with 100 pounds of food!), Dan and Lucille Dotterweich (who traveled on the Kalkstein boat), Joel and Sherry Fitzjarrald, Barry and Claudette Gelfand (Barry modeled his new Gilligan outfit!), Larry and Rhona Kalkstein, Jack and Cheryl Coffin with John and Diane Kernan, and Frank and Marianne Mulligan.
The food was delicious, and as is usually the case on raft ups, there was much too much food! Lots of doggie bags went home with the boaters. Music was playing, people were yakking, and it was an overall fantastic time. The boaters maneuvered skillfully, and as John Kernan noted, it was “a water ballet”! This sets the stage for, hopefully, many more raft ups hosted by members of the Club! Thanks from Rhona and me to all the participants for making our raft up a rousing success!
