Six boats Left, three came back……..
Some said this should be the Trip Report and leave it at that. However, there was so much more to the trip that I have to hit a few of the highlights. The trip was supposed to start out with a night at Legacy on April 16th. Due to weather, Cookin’, Nauti Buoy and Therapy left Marco on April 14th and then headed to Clewiston on the 17th. The weather ended up delaying O Sea D, Karine and Che Jac but they caught up to us in Stuart on April 18th.
On April 2st, we were scheduled to depart Stuart for Vero Beach but both O Sea D and Karine had transmission issues and were stuck in “Dry Dock” so Cookin’, Nauti Buoy, Therapy & Che Jac bid them farewell and adjusted our plans to spend 2 nights at the beautiful Quail Valley River Club in Vero Beach.
On April 23rd the four of us traveled 65 miles further north to Titusville where we found a marina full of old boats. When we left on April 25th for St. Augustine, we had to say goodbye to Mike and Cindy Brown and Robyn Broening who turned back south to be able to attend a surprise 50th Birthday party for Robyn in New Jersey.
Cookin’, Nauti Buoy and Che Jac arrived at our St. Augustine destination on April 25th and spent 4 days enjoying many of the historical sites and tours the city has to offer.
Our journey south had the 3 of us adjusting our plans once again, spending just one day in Daytona and adding a day to our next stop at Cocoa Beach. We enjoyed the downtown marina and quaint town for 2 days and nights.
On May 2, continuing south, we stopped again at Quail Valley River Club in Vero Beach where we were excited to meet up with Bob & Sandy on Karine, who had finished repairs in Stuart and were headed north to the Chesapeake Bay.
On May 3rd the three of us made our way to West Palm Beach where we met up with Grahams on O Sea D, who had finished repairs in Stuart at about noon that day. Hoping to catch smooth seas, we once again adjusted our schedule and spent a 4th day in West Palm enjoying good music and fireworks as part of their annual Sunfest.
On May 7th the now 4 boats of us had a great Atlantic cruise from West Palm Beach to Ft. Lauderdale where we spent just one night at Bahia Mar Marina.
On May 8th we left, again in the smooth Atlantic, for Marathon. Along the way O Sea D veered off at Key Largo for a planned stay at Marina Del Mar while the other 3 of us were joined by Eric and Kris Zimmerman for a 2 night stay at Faro Blanco Marina. Also at Faro Blanco were Ray Rosenberg and Linda Spell on Irish Mist who had stayed over from a Marlow event.
On May 10th Cookin’, Nauti Buoy and Che Jac returned to Marco, while the Zimmermans went back to Key Largo. As we said….. Six Boats left, three came back.
What a fantastic 26 days on the water!
