MARCO BOAT PARADE
This year’s Boat Parade was dedicated to the memory of long time member and P/C Dave Besuden’s infamous “Marco Mania”. Dave would have been pleased with the great jobs that Captain Bob Herndon and Captain Rudy Landwaard did leading the MYBC two entries in this year’s Boat Parade. With the theme of “A Star Spangled Christmas”, the two boats were decorated in red, white, and blue LED lights that danced to “GOD BLESS THE USA” and “THE XMAS SONG”. The MBYC boat won the “Most Entertaining Award” from the Judges and everyone enjoyed the music choice which celebrated both OUR COUNTRY and the XMAS SPIRIT. Doug Baillie and Joe Sheehan would especially like to thank our two Captains and their first mates for volunteering their boats to represent our CLUB in this event. The Decorating TEAM also needs special thanks for helping with the installing and taking the lights off of both boats. The Co Chairmen recommend that next year’s Boat Parade entry be limited to a single entry boat so additional time and effort can be devoted to a single boat.
The MBYC members celebrated the MBYC entries in the Boat Parade from a vacant lot across the street from Cea and Bill Horton’s home near the entrance to Collier Bay. After the Parade, many of the Boat Club members continued the Parade celebration back at the Horton’s home with a Xmas Celebration Party. The night ended with our members already looking forward to next year’s Boat Parade Celebration.
MARCO STREET PARADE
On the morning of December 14, the decorating crew got together once more to put together the MBYC entry into the Marco Christmas Street Parade at the home of Joe and Sharon Doggett who were again wonderful host to the decorating crew. We used a similar theme on the Street Parade but replaced our Santa with Frosty the Snowman and added many more lights to the street parade entry.
On the evening of the Parade, we started with a “pizza party” while waiting for the parade to start and then had six little Elves handing out candy to the parade crowd.  In addition, MBYC had a wonderful group of “dancing women” (you need to ask them about their new name) on the back of the Boat keeping the crowd happy.
Both events continued to show the people of Marco, that MBYC continues to be the Premiere Boating Club on our Island and is filled with great members that enjoy participating in our community events. The club won the “Most Patriotic Award” on the Street Parade.
THANKS AGAIN TO ALL THE MEMBERS AND WIVES THAT BOTH HELPED WITH THE DECORATING CHALLENGE EACH YEAR OR JUST CHEERED US ON FROM THE SIDE LINES …. WE NEED ALL OF YOU TO CONTINUE OUR HOLIDAY TRADITIONS EACH YEAR!

Below is a video link to one of our boats as we all gathered for the Parade.
