Monday Madness June 2022

As our seasonal members begin to head North, the participation in Monday Madness starts to dwindle, as can be seen in the accompanying photos.

We were favored by a surprise visit of Paula Skillern, who was in town for a girl’s weekend.  P/C Charlie and Paula were regular participants in Monday Madness during their time on Marco Island.   They have been greatly  missed at our club activities since their move back home to Georgia lake country.  Deb and I were graciously hosted by them, as our July trip took us through their area.

Lucille Dotterweich had just returned from an Africa Adventure.  We were happy to hear some of the highlights of her trip.

Monday Madness September 2022

Little did we know what lay ahead of us as we gathered for the September Monday Madness.  Most of us were of the opinion that the storm would pass us to the west, as so many have in recent years. We were too busy catching up on summer events to worry about a near miss.  By the time it was apparent that we would feel the full effects of a storm surge there was really no viable option to evacuate, so we rode it out.

The Kernan’s had recently returned from an extensive three-month European Tour.  It was interesting to hear some of the trip highlights.  Of special interest were landmarks of WWII in France.

P/C Brent Cook managed to arrive back to Marco just in time to greet IAN.

Looking forward to seeing you October 31st for our next Monday Madness, when we can share our survival tales.
See you there.

Monday Madness May 2022

As is the custom when Madness falls on a holiday, May Monday Madness was moved to the 23rd  to avdod confilict with Memorial Day.  The weather was near perfect with a nice breeze and moderate temperature.

It was obvious that we were moving into summer season as we rcounted many that had recently embarked on the northward treck home. Some by plane and others by auto.  Even with the detarture, 20 people attended, which was a good crowd.

Betty arrived in time to sell the last few raffle tickets and supervise the drawing.  Charlie Erker had the 1st winning ticket worth $10, followed by Bob Herndonw with the 2nd ticket worth $15 and the grand prize of $25 went to Ginny Jermanok.

Wishing everyone a plesant summer.

2022 04 28 First Mates Bracelet Making

The MBYC ladies “first mates” had a fun event hosted by Anna Hutchings to make beaded bracelets under the direction of Cyndi Bixler of Beach Girl Jewelry. Each piece made was unique to the first mates creative energy.

Cyndi’s jewelry has been featured in Michigan & Florida museum gift shops, boutiques, and local art events. She uses Czech glass, Swarovski crystals, leather and pottery pieces in her designs that are available locally at OMG That’s Chic and Island Gypsy stores.

Each bracelet showed the unique creativity of our members and everyone had a good time!

Monday Madness April 2022

April Monday Madness was held at CJ’s on the Bay on the 25th of April at 4:30PM.

We had great attendance and got the chance to socialize with over 40 of our current and several potential members.  We collected $180 for our 50/50 giveaway with prizes going to Bob Gagnon, Sally Orth and even a potential new member who donated his winnings back to the club.  It was a pleasure to spend time with friends as we wished some safe travels to their Summertime destinations.

We will continue to hold the event through the summer and hope to see our year-round residents continue to gather.  We will hold the next Monday Madness on May 23rd at 4:30.

First Mates Mexican Train Dominoes

On March 15th Lynn Tuttle, generously, hosted MBYC First Mates for a morning of Mexican Train Dominoes.

We had three tables at different levels. Cindy’s table of experienced players played rapidly. Jo’s
table of four intermediate players benefitted from her experience. Lynn’s table of new players
progressed quickly and enjoyed the game. Most of all, it was fun to be together.

Everyone loved the game and many would like to play more. Starting in the fall we are planning a Tuesday
afternoon game day. The thought is to rotate MyJongg, Mexican Train and Bunco. Should be fun!!

Monday Madness March 2022

Could this be Madness?

Yes! On the last Monday of each month, the Marco Bay Yacht Club celebrates Monday Madness st the Esplanade between 4:30-6:00. It’s a great opportunity for members, prospective members, and guests to socialize and enjoy their favorite beverages. And as you can see from the look on Bob Gagnon’s face, it can also be profitable due to our 50-50 raffle.  This month’s winners were Bob Gagnon $20, John Taylor $30, that he donated it back to club,  and Claudette Gelfand $40.

The April Monday Madness is April 25.  Hope to see you there.  It will be the last opportunity so see some of our seasonal members who will be rotating north for the summer.  See you there.
