Our March 11-15 cruise included 6 boats on a great cruise to Tween Waters Marina on Captiva.
The following boats had a great cruise in the Gulf to Redfish Pass into Tween Waters:
• Cookin’ – Brent Susan Cook
• Karine – Bob & Sandy LaMontagne
• Little Suzy – George Suzy Korpash
• Top Shelf – Mike & Maria Adamson
• No Agenda – Mark & Joanne Daugherty
• Tranquil Moments II – Rob & Jean Taylor
Our group enjoyed touring both Sanibel and Captiva on a rented 6 passenger street-legal cart where we found still ongoing repairs from the devastation left behind by Hurricane Ian.
While on Captiva we did find restaurants that had re-opened since our last visit including The Mucky Duck, RC Otters, The Green Flash and Old Captiva House. It was a great visit, with good friends to the quaint old-Florida style Tween Waters Marina.
On March 15th while Karine went north to Boca Grande, because they missed that marina in January, the remaining 5 boats headed south to Pink Shell Marina. We had a nice calm one hour ride down the ICW.
The Pink Shell Marina has been fully rebuilt since Ian and the resort was back in full operation.
Dave O’Conner, the Pink Shell Dockmaster, greeted us on the dock and managed to keep the 5 boats in close proximity to one another.
Fort Myers Beach remains pretty devastated from the hurricane but most of the debris has been hauled away and just an empty beach remains for much of the town.
We all enjoyed a nice sunset dinner at Rae’s on our first night there and visited a new to most re-located restaurant on the ICW called Fresh Catch Bistro.
Forecasted sea conditions meant we cut our 4 nights stay down to 3 nights but by doing so we had a great ride back to Marco in pretty calm seas.
Most of us on this cruise are now looking forward to boating to Marathon and Duck Key in late April and early May for our last cruise of this season.
