Everglades City Cruise

Everglades City was a wonderful success starting with our poolside event on Friday evening, hosting 22 members.  The weather cooperated, food was abundant, with lots of camaraderie.
Saturday morning breakfast was at the café next to the motel, followed by a spending spree at the large and very interesting hardware/gift/novelty store.  Quite interesting.  Later, some went sightseeing by golf cart, some by land yacht and the women played Pony Canasta and Mahjongg.  The bar was open and the women “really” enjoyed the games.
Our dinner on Saturday evening was a true success, 54 members attended and the bar was excellent with $4.00 top shelf drinks.  Our entertainment (DJ & karaoke combo) started at 7:00, and believe it or not,  most stayed until almost 10:00.  MBYC has all sorts of talent, our own Marcia “O” and Alan “S” with or without back up singers were spectacular.  Also entertaining were our very own group, the “Wild Hogs” – who have a rumored album release pending.  Our total “group” of men and women outdid themselves singing.  The dancing by captain Herndon and captain Gelfand to Tennessee Rocky Top is always a hoot.  On the classy side of dancing, Jo Ann and Bob Herndon put on a show by dancing to the Tennessee Waltz.
Sunday morning we had a brunch in the clubhouse with 20 members in attendance,  which included the Putnams and Risings coming back by motorcycle.  This year we had 6 boats including 2 large boats.  Kudos to Captain Al Saunders, our fleet captain, “great job”.
So this year we had 6 boats, 2 motorcycles and and several land yachts.  We also rented golf carts for the entire 3 days and Saturday night makes for good stories and many laughs.  It’s a great trip, hope to see more of you next year  for one day or all three.
