Three60 Market Cruise
October, 26 2023

On Thursday October 26 MBYC kicked off the 2023/2024 season with a lunch cruise to Three60 Market in Naples. Fifty members arrived by boat and land for food fun and fellowship.

It was a beautiful day and awesome way to kick off what’s going to be an action packed season of cruising and social activities.

Our leadership team has been hard at work to put together a fantastic slate of cruises and activities for the coming season.

Resolve now to get to know other memberts of the club by being a participant in as many event as possible.

See you on the water.

Welcome Back/Aboard Party
Novenber, 4 2023

The Marco Bay Yacht Club held it’s Welcome Back/New Member party at the Player’s Club and Spa at Lely in Naples.  It was a groovy reminder of the hippie life as members dove into the themed 1970’s celebration.

Commodore Linda Gagnon introduced the slate of next year’s officers including Bob Gagnon as Rear Commodore and Jeff Wilson and Jack Buinsma joining the board as Directors.

The 13 new members were formally introduced to the group.  This has been a great year for new members who are enjoying the varied activities including long range boating, day boating, jet ski outings, and games for every interest. The new MBYC calendar feature was introduced to help everyone keep track of all the options available.

The food was delicious, and the music and dancing were infectious.  The photo booth was a popular stop for all!

Monday Madness October
October 30 2023

The season opening Monday Madness at CJs on the Bay on October 30th was a well-attended and festive event. Our members dressed for the season in Halloween attire and had a fun evening socializing with old and new friends. Congratulations to the 50-50 raffle winners: Paul Schneeberger ($40), Bob Gagnon ($30) and Larry Sacher ($20). Although no prize was awarded, Bob Herndon would have won for best costume with his creative ‘cereal killer’ outfit…

Looking forward to seeing you for the November Madness on November 27th at CJ’s on the Bay.

Monday Madness Summer 2023

While the cat is away the mice will play.

Summer offered opportunities to expand our horizons while escaping the hot muggy Marco summers.  However, there is alway a contingent of members who look forwared to our monthly Monday Madness at CJ’s on the Bay.  I was able to participate in most of them this summer and submit images of the ones I was able to attend.

As season approaches, attendance continues to build as more of us return from our summer trips and head back to our southern homes.

Looking forward to seeing you for the October Madness on October 30th at CJ’s on the Bay.

Three60 Market Cruise
April 12, 2023

Unfortunately the weather gods produced heavy rain and strong winds forcing us to make a good decision to go to the Three60 by land cruisers. Rebeca was great and saved the inside restaurant for our group of 43 MBYC members. We all had great food and wonderful camaraderie. We sure are lucky to have so many great boating friends to do so many fun things. Hopefully next year we can do this trip by boat, which everyone enjoys. See you next year at the Three60.

Cruise to Marathon Trip Report

Marathon Cruise Trip Report

Our April/May cruise to Faro Blanco Marina was a great time for members of MBYC.

On April 27th Cookin’ (Brent & Susan Cook), Karine (Bob & Sandy LaMontagne), Little Suzy (George & Suzy Koprash) and Top Shelf (Mike & Maria Adamson) left Marco for Faro Blanco Marina on Marathon.

That evening we had a great dinner together at Lazy Days where we enjoyed a fun waterside evening of food, fellowship and a terrific sunset over the Atlantic Ocean.

Friday things started happening at the marina in preparation for the 1st Annual 7 Mile Offshore Boat Races that were to begin on Saturday.

For many of us this was our first in-person Offshore Race and we got to witness the races right in front of our slips at Faro Blanco with turns 5 and 6 just off the marina entrance.

Saturday’s races went off as planned and we had a ring-side seat. It was amazing to us that somewhere around a hundred spectator boats were anchored just north of the race course while we watched from the Faro Blanco beach and from the upper deck of Karine.

The races on Sunday were more challenging with high winds and rough seas at turns 1 and 2 where 3 boats flipped over and another one flipped on the straightaway. After these 4 flips the Coast Guard stopped the race before all of the boats had even been in a race. Thankfully there were no injuries.

Sunday evening was the race party on the Faro Blanco grounds right behind our boats. The place was rocking with music, dancing, food and spirits well into the night.

On May 1st we celebrated milestone birthdays for both George Koprash and Maria Adamson with dinner that evening at The Butterfly Café at Tranquility Bay Resort.

We all had such a great time that we have already booked the same weekend in 2024 and hope to be part of the races again.

We hope more of you can join us in 2024!

Paint and Sip at The
Naples Botanical Gardens
April 12, 2023

First Mates Chair Anna Hutchings arranged an evening of wine and painting. Attendees enjoyed a complimentary glass of wine while enjoying the bright hues of a sunset in paradise, followed by a garden stroll. Then, a Garden Educator helped participants paint a bird of paradise flower. Those that participated had an amazing time. The painting was fun, and the garden was spectacular at sunset. Linda Gagnon and Betty Ann Berejik had a fabulous evening.
