MBYC formal events include the Change Of Watch, the Welcome Back Party (typically a themes event) and the Presentation of the Fleet. These are events held in a more formal sit down venue such as the Players Club or the Island Country Club. We would have live music and dancing at a formal event

Commodore’s Ball 2026

The Fifty-Second Annual Change of Watch (Commodore’s Ball) was held January 29th  at Players Club. At this beautiful venue, nearly 80 members attended and were welcomed with a glass of champagne. Paul Schneeberger reflected on his year as commodore and recognized and thanked the many volunteers and board members who supported his leadership.  A delicious meal was served, followed by a presentation of the Bridge 2026. Commodore Bob Gagnon spoke as his first official duty as commodore. The  dance floor was packed as members danced the night away.

Presentation of the Fleet 2025

February 22 found MBYC members gathered at the Marco Esplanade Marina for the annual Presentation of the Fleet where the newly installed Bridge, Commodore Paul Schneeberger, Vice Commodore Bob Gagnon, and Rear Commodore Jeff Wilson conducted the annual review of the Fleet.

Commodore Paul Schneeberger welcomed everyone and the USA National Anthem was played to open the program.
Chaplin Alan Sandlin read a History of the Marco Bay Yacht Club and followed with a prayer for the blessing of the Fleet.

Fleet Captain Brent Cook presented the fleet for review which included the vessels:

Cookin’                    Captain Brent and Susan Cook
O Sea D                   Captain Vern and First Mate Ann Graham
La Vie en Rose      Captain Bill and First Mate Debbie Schroeder

Upon completion of the review, the vessels were berthed and the Bridge, crews and other MBYC members proceeded to CJ’s on the Bay for a celebratory luncheon.

Commodore’s Ball 2025

Linda Gagnon reflected on her 2 years as Commodore and recognized and thanked the many volunteers and board members who supported her leadership.  A delicious meal was served followed by a presentation of the Bridge. 2025 Commodore Paul Schneeberger spoke as his first official duty as commodore. Kellee Kaysee wonderfully entertained us  all evening. The  dance floor was packed as members danced the night away.

Holiday Party 2024

We kicked off the holiday season with a fabulous party at the beautiful Island Country Club of Marco Island. A good time was had by all with wonderful food, cheer and friendship. Members danced the night away to an amazing four piece band Geezers N’ Paradise.

Sally Orth did her annual raffle for Toys For Tots and raised over $1,000 for the non- profit organization. Sally also generously made a stunning holiday tree which one of our members won with the winning raffle ticket. It was a memorable night of laughter and fun which got everyone into the holiday spirit

We are starting off the season with a flashback to the 60’s & 70’s.
So unleash your inner hippies. Dust off those bell bottoms and throw on your hippie beads.
In other words…..dress for a good time “TYE DYE” forl.
There will be a photo booth to capture and memorialize the event.

Presentation of the Fleet
March 4, 2023

March 4, 2023 was a beautiful day on the water for our Presentation of the Fleet ceremony.  The Bridge was hosted by Dave and Jackie Cox on their 54’ boat ‘Hoosier Daddy V’.  A brief history of the club and a Blessing of Fleet was given by our resident Chaplain, Alan Sandlin.  Participants on water and land could hear the entire program on their VHF radios.  Fleet Captain Brent Cook organized the boats on the water and 7 vessels were presented to Commodore Linda Gagnon and Vice Commodore Charlie Erker.  Charlie laid a rose in the sea for those who have passed this year (Lawrence Oswald and Ellen Dilk) and a special rose for all those loved ones who have gone before.

After the ceremony 51 members gathered for a lovely lunch at CJ’s

BOAT DOCKING IS AVAILABLE FOR 7 BOATS. PLEASE CONTACT LINDA GAGNON IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO COME BY BOAT AND LET ME KNOW IF YOU WILL NEED DOCKSPACE.  BOATS SHOULD MONITOR VHF CHANNEL 72.

Lunch choices include:

CJ’s Tropical Cobb – Mango, avocado, shrimp, boiled eggs, bacon, tomato and feta cheeseover baby greens with house citrus vinaigrette

CJ’s Burger – One half pound ground beef with cheese, lettuce, tomato and onions

Chicken Sandwich – Grilled chicken breast dressed with applewood smoked bacon, smoked gouda, and bacon aioli with lettuce, tomato and onion on a whole wheat bun

Change of Watch
Commodore’s Ball
January 22 – 2023

 

On Sunday, January 22, The Marco Bay Yacht Club conducted it’s 53rd annual “Change of Watch” during which the Bridge for the next year is installed. Outgoing Commodore Sandy LaMontagne introduced the 2023-24  Commodore Linda Gagnon.  Linda then installed Charles Erker, Vice Commodore, and Paul Schneeberger, Rear Commodore.

Sixty-six members enjoyed a dinner of either Filet Mignon or Grouper with red or white wine and an assortment of dessert options.

A variety of music for dancing and listening enjoyment was provided by Mirage.

We had a good contingent of Past Commodores in attendance and took the opportunity to get a group picture.  Included were Larry Sacher, Bob White, Sally Orth, Bob Boland, Rudi Landwaard, Marcia Orsolini, Alex Orsolini, and Brent Cook.

Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make the event a roaring success.
